The 2026 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is a specialized, rugged version of the standard Wildtrak bakkie, engineered specifically for high-intensity overlanding and off-road driving. It bridges the gap between the standard Wildtrak and the ultra-hardcore Ranger Raptor, delivering intense off-road upgrades without losing the practical 3.5-tonne towing capacity of a traditional workhorse
Ford updated the line-up: the Wildtrak X is now available as a premium Option Pack on the Wildtrak Double Cab 4x4, upgrading the bakkie to the more powerful 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Diesel engine (184 kW / 600 Nm). Older iterations and existing stock can still be found running the highly efficient 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine (154 kW / 500 Nm).
One of its most defining visual and functional upgrades is the Flexible Rack System. It features a sliding load rack in the back that moves seamlessly along the length of the load bed.
Experts highly praise its positioning in the market, noting that it delivers near-Raptor off-road capability while retaining the critical 3.5-tonne towing capacity and practical everyday loading capabilities that the Raptor compromises on.
