With the new generation Range Rover making its debut just a few months ago, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has doubled up on their efforts and launched the all-new Range Rover Sport. It’s said to be the most dynamic and capable Range Rover Sport ever built, according to the brand. Here’s everything you need to know about the new SUV.
Tech and features
From the ground up, the new Range Rover Sport is fitted with Dynamic Air Suspension. Where it distinguishes itself from your average air ride is that the vehicle continuously monitors the road conditions ahead and pre-emptively adjusts the suspension accordingly, giving you, the driver a dynamic ride through the twisties.
For enhanced cornering ability, the Range Rover Sport has all-wheel steering, Torque Vectoring by Braking and an Electronic Active Differential. This system allows the big Range to pivot with the turning circle of a much smaller vehicle.
The British firm’s latest generation of noise-cancellation technology is deployed here, and its sole mandate is to reduce road and tyre noise in the cabin. To achieve this, there are microphones inside the vehicle's wheel arches that constantly monitor the situation on the ground, and feed the exact amount of noise-cancelling audio into the cabin to counteract the unwanted noise. This audio is fed through the seat headrests. For comfort and convenience these 22-way adjustable seats can be heated and cooled. As you step out, you might experience the soft-close doors, a feature normally found in premium-class vehicles.
Range Rover Sport engine options
While the new Range Rover comprises of 10 variants, there are four engines on offer beneath each hood. First in line is the 3.0 turbo diesel, then you have the option of two hybrids, a mild and extended range version. Lastly, you can opt for the flagship 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, which should excite you with its 4.5 second dash to 100km/h.
