Enviro Automotive has unveiled its latest addition to the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) market with the launch of the SRM T3 EV, a 1,6-ton forward-cab bakkie designed to meet the evolving demands of urban logistics and sustainable transportation.

SRM (Shineray Reefer Motors), a Chinese automotive manufacturer under the Shineray Group, specialising in light commercial and electric vehicles, SRM has introduced the T3 EV as a flagship model to cater to the increasing urban demand for zero-emission transport solutions.

Gawie Brink, Technical Director at Enviro Automotive, highlighted the vehicle’s benefits, stating: “Our new SRM T3 EV is meticulously designed for urban logistics and last-mile deliveries. It provides businesses with a practical, efficient and eco-friendly solution, making it ideal for fleet modernisation while supporting global sustainability objectives.”

The SRM T3 EV is equipped with a synchronous electric motor that generates 60 kW and 220 Nm of torque, powering the rear wheels and comes fitted with a 53,58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a driving range of up to 300 km on a single charge.

Charging the SRM T3 EV is streamlined with support for both AC and DC charging standards. An 11 kW AC charger can fully charge the battery in approximately three hours, while a 55 kW DC charger boosts the battery from 20% to 80% in about 35 minutes.

With dimensions of 5 190 mm in length, 1 770 mm in width, and 1 995 mm in height and a wheelbase of 3 400 mm, the SRM T3 EV boasts a load box measuring 3 100 mm in length, 1 680 mm in width and 370 mm in height, allowing 5,2 sq/m of cargo space and a payload of up to 1 625 kg.

Brink further commented on the vehicle’s versatility, stating: “The SRM T3 EV is highly customisable, offering various configurations such as flatbed, cabin box, or high box to meet diverse business needs. With a maximum payload capacity of 1,6 tonnes — equivalent to a mid-sized SUV — the T3 is a versatile solution for efficient goods transport across various industries.”

The vehicle features advanced driver-assistance systems and a reinforced body structure for enhanced protection. Its 195/70 R15 LT tyres, McPherson independent front suspension and 6-leaf spring rear suspension ensure stability and support for heavy loads.

Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, anti-lock braking, EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), dual SRS crash bags, EPS (Electric Power Steering) with Auto Return and a reverse camera with parking sensors.

Modern amenities in the SRM T3 EV include a flat-bottom steering wheel for improved legroom, air-conditioning and a 9-inch multimedia system with Bluetooth, DAB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The SRM T3 EV, priced at R669 900 (VAT excluded) with drop sides, comes with a 3-year/60 000 km warranty and service plan, while the traction battery is covered by a 6-year/360 000 km warranty. Service intervals are set at every 12 months or 20 000 km.
